"To grasp Rome one would require the eye of Michelangelo, the mind of Aquinas, the soul of Dante, the resolve of Caesar, and the lifespan of Methusaleh.  It would then take a hundred large volumes to describe the experience."  -  Clare Booth Luce, former U.S. Ambassador to Italy

On our flight home from Rome in 2010, we began planning for the next trip.  We wanted to return to some of the places we had already been but we also wanted to see some different ones.  Being more familiar with the layout and access of the city helped in planning the list for the next trip.  We did a lot of reading and watched a lot of video courses over the next 18 months on Roman and Church history.  I even took an internet course in Italian so I could stop playing charades in the restaurant and could find the bathroom efficiently.  We overestimated our ability on the schedule again, but we saw most of what we planned to see.  In the pages listed below are some of the pictures we made.  Click on the underlined entry to see them.
